I acquired the Commander 114, Serial #14359 Reg. # N5775N, in 1995. At the time it was more or less to look at, as it left the factory in 1978.
I added a new Black Mac 3-blade propeller, new leather interior, a metal panel, some new radios and a few other things to the airplane. But in 2000 I sold it, because I spent most of my pilot time in a Citation, and didnt have time to fly the little one.
Then, early last year, I saw that the guy who bought the aircraft, had put it up for sale again. Since I had promised my wife to retire in 2005, I figured it would be nice to have it back and enjoy the use of it, once I had all the spare time I could dream of. And thats where I am now.
Since then I have done a few more things, like added a new Garmin 430 and new carpeting.
The aircraft has a total of some 2800 Hrs. and 800 Hrs. on the engine, which has a new camshaft. It was part of the deal, when I bought back the aircraft. At the same time the aircraft and engine had a thorough check, and was found to be in very good condition.
I am glad to be a member of the Commander Group. It has proved very helpful to me in many ways. So I am grateful to a number of guys there, not least Judi Anderson.
