We bought 4965W, a 1977 Commander 114, in 1995. Over the years we have continued to improve it mechanically and cosmetically. The interior was completely redone in leather by Advanced Interiors of Hagerstown Md. All the plastic was replaced with new , wool carpeting installed, and super sound proofing put in place. The front seats were built up with Comfor foam by Oregon Aero. New paint was applied in 2002. Modifications include vortex generators, enclosed vertical tail beacon, dorsal fin with NACA scoop, and Bogert copper cable mod. The wing and horizontal tail tips were replaced with fiberglass. The panel is mostly vintage Collins with a Garmin 430 GPS, a PS Engineering PM2000 stereo intercom, and a JPI 800 engine analyzer. A new custom panel overlay by Pflueger was added in 2008.
Diane and I live in South Jersey and hangar the plane at Wilmington, De (ILG). We've totally enjoyed flying our bird. Most of our trips have taken us to places like Myrtle Beach, Savannah, Hilton Head, and a host of distinations in Florida. We were honored at the 2004 Commander Owners Group annual fly-in at Gatlinburg, Tn with COG's choice for best 114.
