We bought our Commander 112TC in July 1999, outside Kansas City, KA, after a lengthy selection process. We were looking for style, cabin size, two doors, and turbo charging to manage density altitude sites. We also preferred the longer wings of the B & TC/TCA models. We wanted to buy at a price where we could change the plane to our liking. So...we enter a "Firewall Foreward Overhaul" time period of 6 months and totally replaced outdated items and made sure that everything mechanical met time replacement specs and that each worked correctly. It flew again in April 2000 and shortly thereafter, in mid August, over an 8 week period, had a totally NEW metal panel fabricated (twice as thick) based on my useability which included some new avonics. We have added or upgraded to the following since: Added a pair of KX175BEs, KLN94, MFD150, Dual GSs KI209s, Flap/Gap & Aileron Seals, Main Gear and Wing Edge Landing Lights, Vortex Generators, Trailing Link Main Gear Doors, 100 Amp Alternator, Light Weight
Starter, Battery Cable Kit, Factory Visors, ADC Remote Oil Filter, M-20 Air-Oil Seperator, Hartzell 3 Blade Top Prop and Numerious Interior Plastic Upgrades. Also, Taz nose art was born in June 2001, at the CAC Factory Fly-In and he has loved flying ever since. A Century III w/Glide Slope Capture, Altitude Hold and Electric Trim was added in early 2006. Future plans call for a new interior. New Radios are also on the futures list. Judy and I like to fly frequently and our most distant location from Texas has been to Hilton Head Island in the east twice; Quincy, IL to the North; El Paso to the West and Colorado Springs to the North West. We always have fun at the Commander Owners Group factory gatherings and have made all of them since June of 1999. I like the web board! We have 21 grandkids and most all have had a flight before they were 6 months old.
